St.Vincent de Paul Diocesan Particular Council

After gathering with several members we elected Rev. Father Christopher G. Gillen Pastor of St. Patrick's Parish Merritton- St. Catharines as our new Spiritual Advisor. We sought Most Rev.James Matthew Wingle- Bishop of St. Catharines for his approval. That was accepted and acknowledged by Bishop Wingle, September 16th, and confirmed today, September 18th, 2009.

We congratulate Father Gillen on his appointment as our new Spiritual Advisor to SSVP Diocesan Particular Council and look forward to his spiritual leadership and guidance. In the words of Bishop Wingle,"Father Gillen brings a wealth of deep knowlege and committed enthusiasm to the work of justice and charity in the faith community and I will, I trust, be of invaluable assistance to you. His spiritual guidance and support will be of much help to you."

Thank you Father Christopher and again, congratulations and God's Blessings!
Shelley Gilbert.
Particular Council President.

Volunteers Needed

Do you have an hour or so on a Friday from about 3.45 to 5.00 p.m.?
Volunteers are needed to help in the SVP room to give out food to needy people in our parish community. Duty days would be 2 consecutive Fridays out of every 5 or 6 weeks. (The more volunteers - the less often you will be on the schedule.)

Meetings take place after 11 a.m. mass approximately once every 2nd month and last about 30 minutes. Please call the Office at St Patrick's.
